World to EnterpriseOne Migrations
But, lo, after these many years, EnterpriseOne has finally caught up and surpassed many other solutions in core functionality. The future has arrived, and with the arrival or EnterpriseOne 8.10 —there's even more to write home about. Such as over 5 years of application enhancements that are not in other ERP systems.
You've made your business case for the migration. So the decision has been made, you're going to EnterpriseOne!
The first thing you'll learn is that the technical requirements of EnterpriseOne far exceed what you ever had to do in the good old days of AS/400 Green Screens. CNC can be a project breaker if you don't get the right CNC expert to help you. And he/she better be good at training your people, because you can't afford to pay for a full-time CNC person forever.
You'll quickly discover that the applications really haven't changed that much in most areas. With the exception of the new Accounts Receivable module in EnterpriseOne, your users don't really need as much training as you might think. We've seen knowledgeable World users get up to speed on the EnterpriseOne user interface within a day. However, if you are going to 8.9 or 8.10 you'll probably need more extensive net-change training than if you are going to 8.0.
But then you discover that user-friendly WorldWriter has been replaced with the imposing sounding Enterprise Report Writer. All of a sudden your users are faced with developing reports using a tool that is really a Development tool, not an end-user Report Writer tool.
You've started to look around for a consulting firm and you quickly find that many firms advertise that they can help you go from World to EnterpriseOne. But you also find out that most of their consultants have 3-5 years experience and have never even seen World.
Who are you gonna call? Our consultants average over 10 years experience with JDE each—that means they pre-date the first release of EnterpriseOne, so of course they know World. In fact, most of them have been on World to EnterpriseOne conversion projects in the last few years.
